**About the role**:
The Major Gifts Manager will proactively drive the acquisition, engagement, management, and retention of Make-A-Wish major donors. This role is critical to developing and implementing a long-term strategy and stewardship program for major donors, while cultivating and nurturing new and existing relationships with donors.
This role reports to the Head of Individual Giving & Philanthropy and works closely with the Group Head of Fundraising to drive income, impact, and influence for Make-A-Wish among key stakeholders including donors, staff, volunteers and the wider Make-A-Wish community.
This position will suit an experienced fundraising professional with demonstrated experience in cultivating relationships and securing gifts, meeting targets and executing superior stakeholder management skills.
**Responsibilities of the role**
- Maintain the Major Donor program in line with Make A Wish’s organisational strategy
- Work with key internal stakeholders to identify and articulate funding priorities
- Meet set monthly KPIs and annual targets to grow a sustainable income stream
- In collaboration with staff, write high-quality and compelling cases for support for acquisition of new or growth of existing major donors
- Proactively use your existing network and connections alongside existing key connections held by Make-A-Wish to grow Make-A-Wish’s presence and reputation with high net worth individuals and philanthropic communities.
- Undertake research of known and potential high net worth supporters
- Engage and cultivate new and existing prospects with the aim of soliciting major gifts of $50,000 or more.
- Assist with coordination of moves management process.
- Maintain and deliver the donor stewardship program to acquire and build a mature portfolio of major donors
- Maintain contact schedules with prospective and existing donors, initiating discussions to establish areas of interest and potential support
**About you**:
- Awareness and understanding of best practice fundraising and recent trends and guidance in relation to major donor fundraising.
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising with proven history of closing major gifts or more.
- High level verbal and written communication skills including creating proposals, impact reports and cases for support.
- Exemplary interpersonal skills including effective listening, empathy, discretion, diplomacy and ability to build and sustain relationships.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills with proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Practised in managing a prospect/sales pipeline using data to inform decision making.
- Proven ability to plan, develop, deliver and monitor large projects with success in achieving agreed outcomes and timelines.
- High levels of attention to detail and strong administrative skills
- Positive can-do attitude with strong work ethic and ability to operate well in a team environment.
