**Selection Criteria**:
**KSC 1** Experience working in disability and inclusion, specifically in a school or educational setting.

**KSC 2** Strong knowledge of disability rights and legislation, including the Disability Discrimination Act, National Disability Insurance Scheme and relevant DET programs and policies.

**KSC 3** Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, including working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary allied health team and the ability to build positive relationships with families, staff and students.

**KSC 4** Demonstrated high level organisation and administrative skills, including the ability to multi-task and cope well under pressure.

**KSC 5** Demonstrated experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to improve the quality of practice.

**KSC 6** Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed practice and the capacity to support students who have experienced trauma.

**Role**:
Working as part of the wellbeing team, the _Disability Inclusion Officer_ role is to ensure students with disability and additional needs are engaged in education and supported to achieve their best through their Individual Learning Plans.

The Disability Inclusion Officer's role is to collaborate with services and teams within and outside the College. This includes but is not limited to Health and Wellbeing Inclusion Workforces, allied health clinicians, Student Support Services (SSSO), and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

The Disability Inclusion Leader plays a vital role in the school’s transition from the Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) model to that of Disability Inclusion in 2024. Disability Inclusion involves setting Disability Inclusion Profile (DIP) meetings, supporting teachers in identifying students who may benefit from a DIP meeting and supporting school leaders in using Disability Inclusion funding to resource evidence-based reasonable adjustments for individual students and cohorts of students.

This role will be the primary point of contact for families and staff on matters related to disability and will provide guidance and support to school teams to ensure inclusive practices are in place.

Reporting to: Wellbeing Coordinator and Principal.

**Requirements**:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in disability, inclusion, allied health, social work.

**Responsibilities**:

- be an advocate and champion for students with disability and additional needs, and work with school staff to implement strategies for supporting the education of these students
- play a key role in supporting students with disability and additional needs to make a smooth transition to school, ensuring there are practical arrangements in place for efficient and effective transfer of information between services and schools (the transition from primary to secondary school is particularly important to ensure continuity of support for students with disability and additional needs)
- have oversight of individual learning plans (ILPs) across the school, and ensure they meet the ILP quality checklist rubric, through supporting/building the capacity of teachers to develop quality IEPs
- build staff capacity to understand, develop and implement ILPs
- work with teachers and support staff to provide reasonable adjustments and individual learning plans for students with disabilities
- collaborate with services working in the school to deliver adjustments to students
- facilitate the provision of appropriate assistive technology, equipment and resources for students with disabilities
- promote a culture of high expectations and aspirations for the learning of students with a disability or additional needs
- provide advice and recommendations to leadership regarding the implementation of the Disability and Inclusion Model
- support school staff and the Student Support Group to prepare and gather supporting information for Disability Inclusion profile meetings
- develop strong partnerships with external organizations and agencies to support students with disabilities
- liaise with the school’s Student Support Services key contact
- where required, support the most appropriate school staff to prepare the student and parent(s)/carer(s) to contribute to Disability Inclusion profile meetings
- ensure that students who require SSGs are identified
- any other duties as directed by the Wellbeing Coordinator/Leadership team.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Wellbeing Coordinator to ensure:

- various databases are maintained and up to date
- various confidential health records and reports relating to children are collated appropriately.
