Role:

Responsibilities:

Leading whole-school inclusive practices:

  • Support the integration of inclusion and disability knowledge in strategic planning and recruitment practices at the school
  • Integrate evidence-based inclusive education and human rights obligations into school policies and plans
  • Cultivate high expectations for the learning of students with disabilities or additional needs
  • Oversee Koorie Education initiatives at the school, including leading processes for Koorie students, organizing events, and collaborating with external services
  • Collaborate with the Wellbeing Team to assist students
  • Coordinate external services for priority students
  • Develop support plans for students with additional needs not covered by Disability Inclusion

Leading the transition to Disability Inclusion:

  • Oversee the transition to Disability Inclusion from the previous funding system
  • Identify students needing a Disability Inclusion Profile and lead the process of evaluations and assessments
  • Facilitate Disability Inclusion Profile Meetings
  • Ensure completion of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and support their implementation
  • Monitor IEPs regularly through Student Support Group (SSG) meetings
  • Enhance staff understanding and implementation of IEPs and goals

Leading and developing the capacity of the whole-school inclusion team:

  • Lead the Inclusion Team towards a unified vision for student support related to inclusion and diversity
  • Manage budgets and funding for optimal resource utilization
  • Organize schedules for Inclusion Support Staff and ensure consistent note-taking processes
  • Define clear roles for team members and ensure adherence to norms and expected behaviors
  • Arrange professional learning opportunities for staff to build capacity
  • Review team operations regularly for optimization
  • Act as a key member of the College's Inclusion Team
  • Contribute to the vision of inclusion and support it in interactions with staff
  • Form partnerships for sustainable collaborations
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders
  • Support data collection for College programs
  • Lead staff in professional learning related to Disability Inclusion and inclusive classrooms
  • Provide reports on students requiring Tier 2 and 3 support

General:

  • Participate in the College's Inclusion Team efforts
  • Contribute to the inclusive vision at KWRSC
  • Develop partnerships
  • Attend DE professional learning sessions
  • Ensure consistent communication with all stakeholders
  • Support data collection for College programs
  • Prepare and share reports on students requiring Tier 2 and 3 support
