The Maintenance Technician, Operations is responsible for overseeing the mechanical maintenance and operation of plant within the Mint. They support the Operations Branch by maintaining plant across a broad range of functions, including but not limited to Waste Water Treatment, Die Polishing, Circulating Coin, Numismatics and the Toolroom.

The Maintenance Technician, Operations undertakes preventative tasks to maintain plant, including operating diagnostic equipment, conducting repairs, and liaising and negotiating with stakeholders to execute maintenance tasks. They monitor industry trends to contribute to continuous improvement and enhancement of maintenance procedures, and ensure compliance with relevant protocols, legislation and guidelines.

The duties of this position include:
1. Undertaking routine maintenance tasks on plant, including conducting inspections, identifying issues and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults.
2. Executing repair work as required, including fixing, replacing or adjusting components.
3. Operating diagnostic equipment and tools to assess equipment performance.
4. Liaising and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders to schedule and execute maintenance tasks.
5. Preparing basic reports and documentation relating to maintenance works, including work orders, maintenance plans and performance metrics.
6. Maintaining accurate records relating to maintenance and repair activities.
7. Maintaining inventory of spare parts and supplies necessary for maintenance tasks.
8. Identifying risks, undertaking risk assessments and managing risk.
9. Ensuring adherence to protocols, legislation and guidelines.
10. Supporting training initiatives for junior staff, sharing knowledge and best practices.
