CGGS is an independent, non-selective Anglican school. For over a century, it has provided students from across
the world with a comprehensive and well-rounded education. Located in the heart of the nation’s capital, and now
spanning three campuses, CGGS provides a world-class educational and co-curricular offering. Perfectly
positioned at mid-sized with just over 1300 students, the School is co-educational from Early Learning to Year 3,
then female-focused through to Year 12.
Beyond academics, CGGS is dedicated to providing enriching co-curricular activities, allowing students to explore

The Role
This role is part of the Junior School leadership team, reporting to the Deputy Principal, Head of Junior School and
ELC through the Director of Junior School (Operations and Environment). This position plays a key role in ensuring
the educational philosophy of CGGS and that the school’s culture of care is met for all students in the Junior
School.
The Assistant Director of the Junior School is responsible for providing comprehensive support to the Directors of
Junior School. Working collaboratively with the Director of Junior School (Student Care and Experience), Director
of Junior School (Learning and Innovation), and Director of Junior School (Operations and Environment), this role
plays a pivotal role in supporting the strategic direction, teaching and learning and the day-to-day operations of
the Junior School.

Annual Leave: It is expected that the Assistant Director will be available as negotiated during non

time periods.
Teaching Load: It is expected that this role will undertake a 0.4 teaching load as directed by the Head of
Junior School and Director of Junior School (Operations and Environment)
Remuneration: An attractive leadership allowance comes with this position
Reports to: Director of Junior School (Operations and Environment)
Due to the nature of this role, out-of-hours work will be required. The Assistant Director will be required to
maintain a degree of flexibility in work hours, which is reflected in the remuneration of this role.
Specific
**Responsibilities**:
As part of the Junior School Leadership and Management Team, undertake required duties for the day to day
operation of the Junior School.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and support to Junior School staff across all areas (student care and wellbeing,
teaching and learning, and staffing and operations).

- Collaborate with the Directors of Junior School to develop and implement strategic initiatives that
- enhance the student learning and care experience.- Oversee specific projects and initiatives as assigned by the Directors of Junior School.
- Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that prioritises student wellbeing and academic success.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Junior School programs and processes.
- Contribute to the professional development of Junior School staff.
- Build strong relationships with parents and the wider school community.
Operations and Environment
- Assist Director of Junior School (Operations and Environment) in the managing the maintenance,
enhancement and compliance of school facilities to support a dynamic and safe learning environment.
- Support the coorindation of safety protocols and emergency preparedness drills.
- Support the Director of Junior School (Operations and Environment) in the implementation of the
- School’s staff development program.- Assist the Director of Junior School (Operations and Environment) in coordinating staffing, timetables
- duty allocations in the Junior School- Assist the Director of Junior School (Operations and Environment) in coaching and mentoring new and
existing staff.
Student Care and Experience
- Support the Director of Junior School (Student Care and Experience) in the delivery of pastoral care
frameworks and programs to support student wellbeing and mental health.

student behavior and presentation, assisting staff to implement these standards
- Foster a culture of integrity, courage, respect and inclusion among students and staff.
