Working both independently and collaboratively, the Mechanical Fitter provides refined skills and experience to support the Operations Branch, utilising precision and high speed minting equipment to produce quality circulating, numismatic and investor coins, medals, tokens and medallions, and colour-printing for Australia and foreign countries. The Mechanical Fitter works with multidisciplinary teams, performs tool setting tasks and assists in regular maintenance, repairs and improvements. They perform diagnostics and unscheduled breakdown rectification in a safe, effective and efficient manner to ensure the optimisation of the Mint’s performance.

**The successful applicant is required to work full-time and on-site.**

The duties of this position include:
1. Undertaking the setup, adjustment and maintenance of plant and equipment.
2. Undertaking general fitting and mechanical trade activities to ensure the quality and timely operation of business requirements.
3. Maintaining records using computer based packages, using these packages to retrieve data related to manufacturing and service records, and assisting with data gathering related to trade activities.
4. Assisting in risk management activities such as, risk assessments, incident investigation and corrective actions.
5. Undertaking quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of information and procedures.
6. Acquiring specialised knowledge and providing advice to produce good outcomes, as needed.
7. Participating in cross skilling within the branch, including on the job training of trades staff and apprentices.
8. Assisting in the delivery of various projects related to trade and manufacturing activities.
9. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
10. Participating in flexible on call rostering and shift work, when required.

**Security clearance**
This position requires a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

**Qualification**
A relevant trade qualification.
