Position Systems Administrator

The Role
As a System Administrator, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the School’s IT
infrastructure, ensuring the optimal operation of Microsoft-based platforms, security controls, and related
components.

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the delivery of effective installation/configuration, operation
and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related school infrastructure. The Systems
Administrator ensures that systems and related procedures adhere to organisational values, enabling
staff, students, and the greater school community. The Systems Administrator will also support both staff
and students in the use of ICT hardware and software under the leadership of the ICT Manager.

Duties
- The role will require, on occasions, to be performed outside of core business hours. It is the nature of _
- the work at Canberra Girls Grammar School that tasks and responsibilities are, in many _
- circumstances, unpredictable and varied. All staff are therefore expected to work in a flexible way _
- when the occasion arises and undertake tasks that are not specifically covered in the position _
- description.**The Systems Administrator will**:

- Provide technical administration, upgrades, and patching for Microsoft server and cloud- Ensure the optimal operation and function of Microsoft-based platforms and the
- supporting virtualization/networking/storage infrastructure.- Support end-users in triaging, troubleshooting, and resolving operational issues.
- Assist in planning, designing, evaluating, and implementing technical solutions for various projects.
- Maintain and produce technical documentation for the technical team.

**Technologies you will work with**:

- Security: Next-Generation Firewalls, Cloud Security, Office 365 Security, Endpoint Security,
- Network Segmentation, and DMZs.- Networking: Layer 3 Switching (Core networking), Switch stacking technologies, Dynamic routing

protocols, Spanning Tree deployment, Link redundancy, and aggregation technologies, Wireless
Networking, RADIUS Authentication, Wireless Fast Roaming.
- Servers & Storage: Nutanix AHV Virtualisation, MS Windows Server, Linux Servers.
- Cloud: Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365.
- Essential Skills/ Experience- Qualification in Information Technology or Information Systems.
- Relevant Industry Certifications and/or experience across IT, Business, Management,
- Project/Program Management and delivering Microsoft-based solutions.- 5+ years of technical expertise working in a Windows environment, including practical experience

in network architecture, system administration, PowerShell programming, Microsoft-compatible
networking and storage infrastructure administration, Windows administration and Windows
security controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft cloud administration and associated products (M365/Exchange).
- Familiarity with Microsoft-compatible Virtualization products (VMWare).
- Experience with enterprise level infrastructure planning and management across servers,
- storage and networks.- Ability to develop and maintain ICT infrastructure documentation including policies, procedures
- and related technical documentation- High-level analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- High level organisational skills, self-drive and initiative with the ability to influence others to
- achieve results and business objectives.- Working knowledge of standard business practices commonly accepted within Education
