OceanaGold are seeking a suitably qualified and motivated Principal Continuous Improvement to drive the implementation of best-practice standardized continuous improvement systems across our group portfolio of global mining assets. Based in our Brisbane Office and reporting directly to our Global Head of Continuous Improvement, you will ensure sites and functional departments are managing a continuous pipeline of improvement opportunities and are identifying, assessing, prioritising and implementing these with regular cadence to improve operational and group productivity and cash flow. Your ability to establish excellent working relationships at site operations level across our global footprint of mining operations will ensure your success in this challenging and rewarding key senior strategic specialist appointment.
**Key tasks and responsibilities**:
- Drive implementation of new continuous improvement business practices, frameworks and business improvement initiatives in line with our broader company change management program.
- Influence the work of a large team of employees and contractors to ensure the evaluation of best practice CI systems
- Development and implementation of a standard CI process and global framework
- Ongoing monitoring of performance of sites and flag highlights for recognition and issues for focus
- Lead implementation of a an enterprise system for the group that will allow the gated approval of projects from ideas to implementation and the monitoring of metrics of approved and prioritised projects against baseline throughout implementation
- Assist sites where needed with the scoping and analysis of opportunities
- Provide weekly and monthly executive reports of compliance to plan
- Assist in the development and drive the implementation of tactical and strategic plans for optimizing resources and assets consistent with company short-term and long-term business needs
- Assist in ensuring functional and broader group compliance with company HS&E policies, procedures and mandatory instructions that safeguard the environment, protect the well-being of individuals and minimize broader business risk
- Provision of senior level reporting on the performance of the function globally.
- Engage and work with General Managers to set appropriate performance objectives for continuous improvement teams and assist operations-based managers as required to achieve annual targets
- Advise on a portfolio of contracts and assist with the negotiation of service level agreements
- Rreview of existing operations practices and assist with the implementation of innovation processes across the department or sub-function to ensure the required continuous improvement outcomes are delivered.
- Contribute to the further development and implementation of global company asset risk management policies and procedures.
**Qualifications**:
- Tertiary qualifications in a suitable discipline
- More than 10 years of experience in developing and implementing best practice levels of continuous improvement management standards, systems, frameworks and structures to support business units whilst overcoming relevant global implementation challenges spread across multiple global locations.
- 5 years plus experience in interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver continuous improvement objectives within budgeted expectations.
- Demonstrated experience in standardizing the interpretation of complex data sets to deliver sound analytics and contribute to the establishment of a strong continuous improvement culture.
- Demonstrated awareness of relevant contemporary leading edge mining industry transformational technologies along with a willingness to embrace and assist in the implementation of these and an awareness of potential disruptors and game changers
- Demonstrated experience providing guidance and training on the identification, assessment and management of risk.
- Excellent planning, analysis and reporting skills as well as the ability to effectively manage senior stakeholder expectations.
- The ability to work independently while guiding and training others on delivering projects and/or programs within desired cost, time and quality parameters.
