South Melbourne Market has been a treasured inner-city landmark and a favourite amongst locals and visitors since 1867. It is the quintessential village market, a place where people come not only to purchase fresh food, but to meet, eat, drink, shop, discover, share and connect.

The Market is owned and operated by the City of Port Phillip, a vibrant and diverse inner-city council. The council employs around 1,000 people who all work together to deliver more than 100 programs and services to our engaged community of residents, businesses and visitors. What does that mean? Think, childcare, libraries, parks, recreation, waste & recycling collection, road maintenance, family and youth services, property & assets, city planning & development, customer experience, digital technology, governance, people, culture and safety, and of course South Melbourne Market City of Port Phillip has zero tolerance for child abuse and is a committed Child Safe organisation.

**About the Role**

This is an exciting and rare opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced marketing and communications professional to join the South Melbourne Market team.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Customer Experience, the role will develop, manage and implement the marketing and communications plan for South Melbourne Market in line with the Market’s Strategic Plan and Marketing & CX Strategy.

The role will work closely with all areas of the business, contributing to retail and business development, customer experience, events and activations, partnerships and onsite asset development and operations.

**Duties**:

- Manage the Market’s internal and external marketing and communications functions including the development, implementation and reporting of the annual Marketing Plan.
- Plan, develop and deliver initiatives, events and campaigns that raise brand awareness; engage with target markets and achieve business objectives.
- Management of annual marketing budget.
- Regular reporting on marketing initiatives and results at South Melbourne Market Committee meetings as required.
- Provide input as part of the Market Management team into the innovation of the Market and improvements to the customer journey and experience.
- Provide advice and support to Market traders in relation to marketing, communications, events and customer experience.

Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience in a senior marketing or communications role in a retail or similar fast-paced environment.
- High level copywriting skills with strong attention to detail
- Experience dealing with all levels of internal and external stakeholders with differing priorities and needs.
- Experience in setting, managing and reporting on annual budgets
