**The opportunity**:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Post Approval Monitoring Officer to join our Animal Ethics Office. The appointee will be responsible for several key projects to monitor the compliance of activities at the Alfred Research Alliance that involve the care and use of animals for scientific and teaching purposes. This role will be expected to maintain currency and working knowledge of the _Australian Code_, The Act and associated regulations, regulatory guidelines, and internal documents.

The successful applicant will be highly motivated, an excellent communicator with the ability to multitask in a high-pressure environment.

**Duties**:
In this role you will be expected to:

- Contribute to AE Office communications strategy.
- Develop and implement a sitewide training and education program.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of controlled documents.
- Manage a robust facility and equipment inspection program.
- Manage the resolution of unexpected adverse events and non-compliance issues in accordance with relevant procedures.

**Skills and Experience**:
You will have:

- A relevant tertiary qualification in the field of biological science or veterinary science preferably at a postgraduate level.
- Experience in auditing/monitoring approved activities.
- Experience in an animal ethics administration role in a research or higher education environment is desirable.
- Understanding of laboratory animal science and animal ethics procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy requirements.
