**What does the role involve?**

The Media Advisor is part of the Media Relations team that carries responsibility for protecting and enhancing Australia Post’s reputation and its social licence to operate, which is achieved through delivery of Australia Post’s communications strategy.

The Media Advisor will support in responding to reactive media enquiries, developing enterprise-wide positions and corporate media announcements. This role has accountability for ensuring best practice communication systems and processes are maintained to assist the team in delivery of media relations activities.

Key to success in this role will be working collaboratively across the enterprise, external media and communications teams. You will build effective relationships at all levels of the business and develop a deep understanding of business needs and stakeholder audiences.

**What are the key responsibilities?**
- Support the Senior Media Manager in building and maintaining contact for all external media bodies and proactively managing relationships
- Work with senior leaders to develop reactive positions to respond to media inquiries
- Work with the business to identify and mitigate reputational issues across the business as they arise
- Collaborate across the enterprise to deliver and implement AP's media strategy around key enterprise announcements
- Involvement in key projects, whole-of corporation issues, campaigns, tools and channels
- Ensure accurate and effective media monitoring, working with the external supplier to ensure coverage of appropriate areas and topics
- Ensure Media team is informed of developing issues as required, including those of key competitors
- Facilitate preparation of monthly media analysis report, working with managers to ensure analysis is comprehensive and accurate
- Develop and maintain up-to-date media lists and briefing documents

**What are we looking for?**
- Approximately 4 years; experience in corporate media relations in a large complex organisation
- Strong experience in reactive media and issues management
- Excellent understanding of a wide variety of media channels and techniques
- Experience in media relations systems, processes and measurement
- Natural curiosity about current news issues and the broader community
