**KSC4** Ability to provide leadership and professional learning that informs and influences the work of others involved in the engagement and wellbeing of children and young people.
**KSC5. **Demonstrated capacity to contribute to a collaborative, multi-disciplinary Student Wellbeing and Professional Learning Teams to design, implement and evaluate prevention and intervention programs to support the educational needs of all students.

**KSC6.** Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and a high level of interpersonal skills including a capacity to develop constructive relationships with students, staff, parents and external agencies in the area of student wellbeing.

**Role**:
The Social Worker/Psychologist/Counsellor (Mental Health Practitioner) is a member of the Wellbeing Team and is responsible for developing and providing a comprehensive and integrated framework to respond to the needs of our students and their families. The school prioritises implementing prevention and early intervention strategies through the development of programs, procedures and policies. The Social Worker/Psychologist/Counsellor will develop and implement programs and strategies that foster resilience in children and young people and address their social, emotional and educational needs.

They work as part of multidisciplinary teams in schools and networks to support students and teachers.
- Provide direct and coordinated support for students with critical needs both within and external to the school, including proactively working with School Support Service Officers and other health professionals to engage further support as required.
- Provide support to students and families that addresses social and emotional needs, such as psycho-social assessment, critical incident response, advocacy and support for students and families and liaison with external community service providers.
- Enhance promotion and prevention activities in the school by contributing to whole school health and wellbeing plans, building the capability of teaching staff and school leadership to manage student health and wellbeing, and helping to embed mental health promotion and prevention programs and strategies in the school.
- Support teachers in the development and provision of educational and social skill programs, particularly in respect to students with additional and/or diverse needs.
- Liaise with community service organisations, DFFS, hospitals, specialist programs and other professionals as required.

**Responsibilities**:
The responsibilities of the Social Worker/Psychologist/Counsellor (Mental Health Practitioner) may include (but are not limited to):

- Providing high quality advice and contribute to the development of strategic interventions that support capacity-building related to student learning, engagement, inclusion and wellbeing consistent with the priorities of the school and DET.
- Contributing to the school’s Wellbeing Team in managing diverse student needs and providing access to student support services, analysing and responding to welfare and engagement data and co-ordinating and presenting professional learning for staff.
- Developing and implementing a range of programs for students and the school community that aim to foster resilience and respond to identified social, emotional and educational needs consistent with the school’s Disability and Inclusion provision for students.
- Strengthening the capacity and capability of staff to deliver adjustments and inclusive practices for students with disability. Providing professional learning for staff with a focus on primary prevention strategies and skills in the identification, monitoring, management of students at risk.
- Work with staff to implement effective strategies to support students with additional needs.
- Providing counselling as required and undertaking small group and individual support where appropriate.
