**Communications and Engagement Adviser opportunity**

**About the role**:
Government agency requires an experienced Communications and Engagement Adviser for a 3 year fixed contract to be responsible for designing and delivering the way the agency engages with landowners, communities and key stakeholders as part of their Voluntary Purchase Scheme (VPS) and compulsory acquisition program.

As the Communications and Engagement Adviser, you will require a highly developed sense of judgement, tact, and diplomacy and the ability to work effectively and sensitively with diverse communities and stakeholders. You will build strong relationships and work closely with interdisciplinary teams as well as a range of government departments and service providers.

**Responsibilities and duties**:

Key accountabilities will include:

- Preparing comprehensive communication and engagement plans, presentations, key messages, FAQs, and scripts with a keen attention to detail. You will also prepare briefings, reports and correspondence on complex issues that may include sensitive and confidential information.
- Engaging directly with interested parties and provide timely and relevant information about the Voluntary Purchase Scheme (VPS) and compulsory acquisition process and undertake follow up actions.
- Identify and manage reputational risks early by providing timely and strategic advice to the Projects and escalating issues as required.
- Support face-to-face communications with interested parties and manage the logistics associated with key activities including door knocks.
- Record all interactions and correspondence with interested parties in the stakeholder relationship management platform (Consultation Manager) and maintain relevant data.

**Experience and Qualification**:
The experience and qualifications you will need to demonstrate include:

- Tertiary level qualification in Communications, Community Engagement, Stakeholder Relations, or similar discipline highly advantageous.
- Extensive experience in communications/stakeholder relations/customer experience roles within issues rich environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong your organisational skills and the ability to problem-solve to manage competing deadlines and complex issues
- Experience in a land and property function highly advantageous.
- Must be able to travel around Melbourne for meetings as required.
- Previous government experience will be highly regarded.
