The Adviser Portfolio Communications role delivers innovative communication approaches and materials that raise the profile of the Victorian Government’s Renting taskforce with a diverse range of audiences and educates the community about housing and renting rights and responsibilities.

About the role

We are seeking a communications adviser to join our high performing team to tell the stories that bring the department's work to life, and use best practice communication to support the Victorian community. 

The Adviser Portfolio Communications role delivers innovative communication approaches and materials that raise the profile of the Victorian Government's Renting taskforce with a diverse range of audiences and educates the community about housing and renting rights and responsibilities.

This involves working in partnership with Consumer Affairs Victoria and a range of stakeholders to ensure stakeholders and the community receive the right messages, through the right channels, at the right time.

An ability to develop strong networks and relationships internally and with key stakeholders is vital to this role.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely, and present information that will be subject to public scrutiny.
  • Demonstrated flair and creativity, with a proven track record in delivering innovative communication strategies and content for a range of channels and audiences, including social media, advertising copy, web content, speeches, newsletters and other materials.
  • An ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, provide timely and accurate advice and work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting and contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of communications activities, including preparing accurate reports, briefings, and other documents.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and an ability to problem solve and achieve quality outcomes under tight deadlines.  

Tertiary qualifications in public relations and communication, or equivalent, and/or experience in a government communication role will be highly regarded.
