**What does the role involve?**

The Adviser, Government Affairs is a key member of the Government Affairs team, who will be responsible for contributing to proactive and reactive federal and state government engagement in support of Australia Post’s strategic growth initiatives, including a focus on internal and external advisory and advocacy.

**What are the key responsibilities?**
- Proactively and reactively engage with Federal and State Government stakeholders, including Ministers, MPs, Senators, Advisers and Departments, in support of Australia Post’s strategic aims and issues management
- Assist in the business’s preparation for appearances before Senate Estimates and other Parliamentary Inquiries
- Support the development of coherent and persuasive policy submissions and advice to various external forums to help influence government (at all levels), key industry groups, regulators and public policy forums
- Support the provision of high level briefs and messaging on a range of policy and commercial areas to support Australia Post’s engagement with government and other stakeholders
- Contribute to the strengthening of communication and engagement processes with government and internal stakeholders

**What are we looking for?**
- 2+ years in Government Relations / Corporate Affairs / Ministerial adviser role within a commercial setting / political office / industry association / think tank
- Strong relationship management skills, able to work effectively with new and existing stakeholders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Initiative with an ability to work in team environments or autonomously
- Positive and resilient with an interest to work and develop knowledge across a range of matters and issues
