**The opportunity we have available**

The Classification Branch provides policy and operational advice, education and training on the classification of films, computer games and publications. It delivers operational and secretariat support to the Classification Board and Classification Review Board (the Boards) and supports industry through the administration of approved classification tools. The Branch is also responsible for the oversight of the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Act 1995 and the National Classification Scheme.

The Assistant Director will be required to proactively lead the team through change, achieving strong business as usual (BAU) outcomes while helping shape the future of classification in Australia.

The Assistant Director is responsible for leading a small team on a diverse range of tasks, including:

- Providing secretariat support to the Boards
- Providing advice to industry clients on compliance with the National Classification Scheme
- Engaging and fostering productive relationships with the Boards on reform implementation
- Preparing correspondence, media responses, reports and briefings for the Boards, Senior Executives, Minister for Communications, and the Australian public
- Providing advice on operational requirements to reform the National Classification Scheme.

The role may involve some travel to Canberra and viewing film, game or publication content that is high in impact and/or objectionable.

Note: A merit pool will be established for a period of 18 months from the date of this advertisement as a result of the selection process to fill similar vacancies in the department and across the APS.

- Project/program management, coordination, delivery or reporting
- Experience with using Microsoft 365 systems.
