**The Role**:
We currently have a Maternity Ward Clerk position available due to a resignation. In this position you will be working over 4 Wards areas: Maternity, Birthing Suite, Neonatal and Maternity Assessment Centre.

These rewarding opportunity exist for customer service focused applicants to join the Ward Clerk Workforce at Northern Health.

**Days and Times are as follows based on a fortnightly roster**:
Maternity Ward:
Week 1 - Friday 2:30pm - 11:30pm, Week 2 - Saturday 9:00am - 4:00pm

Maternity Assessment Centre:
Week 1 - Saturday 9:00am - 4:00pm, Week 2 - Sunday 9:00am - 4:00pm

We are hoping to give this position to one Ward Clerk, that is also available to pick up additional Monday to Friday shifts to cover any leave.

We are looking for someone in this role, who has worked in a hospital or fast paced environment. As a Ward Clerk, you are responsible for providing administrative support and assistance to patients and their families upon their arrival at the hospital. You will also assist clinical teams by coordinating the necessary clerical requirements for patients’ admission to discharge.

**Responsibilities of this job include**:

- Patient movement scheduling processes to ensure appropriate bed management and utilisation;
- Managing incoming and outgoing calls to the front reception desk;
- Provide timely and accurate information to queries by patients, visitors and other staff and departments;
- Work alongside and support clinical staff, patients and visitors to ensure a smooth hospital experience for patients;
- Compilation and management of patient clinical documentation;
- Entry of domiciliary appointments and support the Domiciliary Coordinator with administrative tasks;
- Entry of attendances, admission and discharges onto IPM and booking of follow up appointments;
- Assist the Maternity Wards with any other tasks as required.

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- Worked in a hospital or fast pace environment.
- Experience in a medical setting will be highly desired, though not essential.
- Excellent data entry skills and attention to detail.
- An enthusiastic personality with a strong administrative skillset and a passion for customer service and enjoys being part of a busy environment.
- The ability to converse and be empathetic while managing a busy flow of admissions and discharges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working in a team of clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Demonstrated computer literacy including the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Experience with Patient Administration Systems.
