**Position Information**:
Peakhurst Public School is a dynamic school at the centre of a supportive community, situated in the heart of the Georges River Principals Network in metropolitan southern Sydney with a rich heritage of delivering high quality public education spanning 152 years. The school has an enrolment of 450 students, of which 70% are from a non-English speaking background and four students identify as Aboriginal. The main language groups are English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Arabic. The school has four support classes, including one class for students with a moderate intellectual disability, one class for students with autism spectrum disorder and two classes for students with a mild intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder. There is a highly regarded preschool and out of school hours childcare facility on the school site.

Peakhurst Public School enjoys a highly cohesive mix of experienced and early career teachers who work together collaboratively to promote excellence. The school has a strong culture of collaboration and professional learning, particularly in literacy, numeracy and wellbeing with an explicit focus on instructional leadership programs, Positive Behaviour for Learning and curriculum reform in English and Mathematics. Numeracy is a continued focus of professional learning in 2024 aligned to the 14 parameters of Lyn Sharratt’s proven ‘Clarity’ research base.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. A highly visible, approachable leader with exemplary interpersonal skills and the proven capacity to work collaboratively to form positive, productive relationships with all community members so the educational and wellbeing outcomes of all students are prioritised in the short and longer term.

2. An exemplary leader with demonstrated emotional intelligence and proven expertise in working collaboratively with other school executive, all staff, as well as colleagues in other schools to keep the school on the current positive trajectory of successful innovative curriculum reform and student wellbeing programming aligned to the NSW Plan for Public Education and the school’s Strategic Improvement Plan.

3. A proven high quality instructional leader with the strategic capacity to consultatively demonstrate and collaboratively continue to implement whole school programs focused on high quality evidence based, differentiated practice for all students in the mainstream and support unit settings.

4. A leader with demonstrated knowledge and skill in establishing and enhancing a wide variety of community partnerships so Peakhurst Public School proudly delivers on the system’s commitment to truly transform lives through public education.

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
