**Who we are**
The Portfolio Strategy Division is the department's central policy area. The division supports our ministers and the department to engage with the complex cross-cutting policy challenges in Australian climate, energy, environment and water policy. We lead on the Cabinet and Budget processes, strategic policy, First Nations policy, whole-of-portfolio projects, and work to build the department's policy capability.

Ministerial Liaison and Governance Branch support both our Ministers and Senior executive - we are the engine room supporting the department’s core business. Key activities undertaken in the branch include provision of Ministerial support (including placement of Department Liaison Officers), preparation for Senate Estimates and coordination of responses for Question Time Briefs. Lead the department’s Risk Management activities. Develop the Corporate Plan and prepare the annual performance reports. Support the Audit and Risk Committee and oversee the delivery of the Internal Audit Work Program.

The Performance and Audit Section supports the department in its corporate planning and reporting functions: delivering corporate plans, annual reports and non-financial performance information for the Portfolio Budget Statements; supporting business planning; and supporting the department’s Audit and Risk Committee in providing assurance for these functions.

**The Job**
The position is responsible for:

- Development and implementation of corporate and business planning, annual reporting, and non-financial performance information.
- Implementing assurance and evaluation to support these functions in line with the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act and Rule and relevant Commonwealth frameworks.
- Working with business areas to capture strategic planning and reporting information in line with contemporary best practices.
- Analysing corporate information to assist the Executive in setting corporate plan strategic priorities across policies, programs, and regulation against the department’s legislative and government priorities.
- Implementing an Enterprise Performance Framework to mature performance measurement.
- Assisting the Director in liaising across the executive and divisions on planning and reporting activities.
- Leading a small team.

**What we are looking for**
**Knowledge and experience**
- Extensive stakeholder engagement and management skills.
- A demonstrated knowledge, or the ability to quickly gain an understanding of Commonwealth and departmental corporate planning and performance frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in being flexible, reliable and able to communicate well in a small team to enable a collegiate working environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing corporate programs, projects and processes at an organisational level and the ability to deal with ambiguity and shifting priorities.
- Highly developed analytical, writing and presentation skills and the ability to manage multiple high-pressure deadlines, including the use of data analytics and visualisation.

**Skills and capabilities**
- Extensive experience in providing high quality advice to staff at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate, set strategic direction and identify risk.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage competing priorities in line with set goals and objectives.

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and build good working relationships with others.

**Desirable Qualifications**
- Planning, evaluation, Governance, Compliance, or related discipline.

**Eligibility and other requirements**
**Citizenship** - To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.

**Security Clearance** - This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
