**How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne**
The Community Development Branch is responsible for leading and supporting the implementation of the City of Melbourne’s whole-of-organisation community development approach. Our vision is to enable a just, inclusive and sustainable society where communities are empowered to meaningfully engage, participate and shape their own city.
The Neighbourhood Team has a place-based approach working directly with communities in their neighbourhoods to ensure participation in Council decision-making and access to opportunities and support. The purpose of the Neighbourhood Team is to drive more meaningful connection with our local communities, at a suburb or neighbourhood level, so that shared priorities can be achieved. Neighbourhood Partners work to build positive relationships with neighbourhood stakeholders. This supports communities to work more effectively with CoM and with each other, and ensures that CoM is better informed about the strengths, needs, opportunities and concerns of the community.
Neighbourhood Partners connect different parts of the community to each other and support community-led ideas. They also bring understanding of each neighbourhood into the organisation and use these insights to influence the direction of City of Melbourne work and projects.
**What you will bring** (**Selection Criteria)**
All CoM employees will demonstrate an ability to articulate and demonstrate benefits of positive culture and values. In addition, the position will require:
- Tertiary qualifications to degree level in a relevant field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated significant experience in community development and community relationship building.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse communities, which may include culturally and linguistically diverse communities, First Nations peoples, young people, LGBTIQ+, people with disability.
- Demonstrated significant experience in community development, community relationship building and/ or practice of community engagement.
- High level project management, planning and organisational skills with demonstrated experience in leading and delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable and innovative within a changing environment and achieve high quality outcomes.
