- The Assessment and Monitoring Officer is part of the Office of the Independent Regulator (the Office). The staff in the office have a role in overseeing, regulating and monitoring organisations and individuals that provide services to children and young people. The office influences and leads change by building capability in organisations to be child safe.The Department of Justice supports reasonable adjustment requests in any stage of the assessment process to remove barriers and facilitate full participation in all aspects of employment for applicants with disability. **Period of Appointment**:
ASAP for 24 months.

**Hours per fortnight**:
73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.

**Duties**:

- Engage with organisations in a proactive manner pursuant to the _Child and Youth Safe Organisations Act 2023 _with specific focus on the assessment and quality assurance of how organisations are implementing the Universal Principle and Child and Youth Safe Standards.
- Provide guidance and advice to organisation representatives and undertake activities including sector meetings, face-to-face meetings with organisations to educate and create awareness of the importance of being child safe.
- Provide high level and evidence backed advice, support, and direction to organisations aimed at ensuring the services provided meet the Universal Principle and the Child and Youth Safe Standards.
- Provide high level advice to the Independent Regulator, their Deputy, and Directors on systemic themes across organisations that may then drive capability initiatives that the Office may seek to implement including how the Regulator can provide targeted resources and training to relevant sectors.
- Proactively follow up of relevant practice improvement activity across organisations and provide high level, authoritative advice to the relevant Head of Entity or their delegate on this activity.
- Organise, plan and undertake monitoring activities using basic project management methodology, undertake assessments and refer non-compliance issues for further investigation.
- Support the broader team within the Office with general queries, and provide timely advice, guidance to organisations on child safe practices.
- Develop and maintain trusting and collaborative working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in enhancing the public profile of the Office including developing networks, assist in the implementation of outreach programs and maintaining effective communication pathways with complainants, notifiers and agencies.

**Essential Requirements**:
A Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.

**Desirable Requirements**:

- Current Driver’s licence.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in administrative law or the conduct of investigations and regulatory activity.
