What is the role?
The CCT is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with international and domestic law enforcement agencies, regulators, industry and academia in the cryptocurrency environment. The team provides investigator training and awareness and a wide array of project work involving cryptocurrencies.

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.
What will you do?
Supporting AFP operational needs in cryptocurrency related investigations
Uplifting the AFP’s capabilities to take appropriate action where cryptocurrencies are identified in investigations
Ensuring AFP is a step ahead of organised crime and can deliver maximum impact to the criminal environment.
Working with industry and partner agencies both domestically and internationally in order to prevent criminals using new technologies to move the proceeds of crime to other jurisdictions.
**Daily tasks include**:
Supporting investigations to identify, trace and seize cryptocurrencies that have been used to facilitate or are the proceeds of crime.
Preparing and writing tracing reports and witness statements for criminal and civil proceedings.
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen;
- Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance or the ability to obtain one;
- Relevant qualifications or experience and knowledge in financial investigation, data analysis; and
- Knowledge of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.

Desirable Requirements
The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Data Science or Accounting and Finance
Law enforcement investigative experience
Relevant qualifications or extensive experience and knowledge in project management.
Experience in using Python or SQL for data analysis
Additional Information
There are two positions being advertised in multiple locations however, at least one position is located in ACT, while there is an option for the potential of a successful applicant to be based in one of our national office locations.
The role is an AFP Band 4 level role
