What is the role?
The CCT is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with international and domestic law enforcement agencies, regulators, industry and academia in the cryptocurrency environment. The team provides investigator training and awareness and a wide array of project work involving cryptocurrencies.
- Cryptocurrency Investigator - Band Level 5 ( coach or mentor the Band 4s ), deliver training or presentations for wider AFP around cryptocurrencies

What will you do?
**The key responsibilities of the position include**:

- Supporting AFP operational needs in cryptocurrency related investigations
- Uplifting the AFP’s capabilities to take appropriate action where cryptocurrencies are identified in investigations
- Ensuring AFP is a step ahead of organised crime and can deliver maximum impact to the criminal environment.
- Working with industry and partner agencies both domestically and internationally in order to prevent criminals using new technologies to move the proceeds of crime to other jurisdictions.

**Daily tasks include**:

- Supporting investigations to identify, trace and seize cryptocurrencies that have been used to facilitate or are the proceeds of crime.
- Preparing and writing tracing reports and witness statements for criminal and civil proceedings.
- Developing and delivering cryptocurrency related training for AFP other business areas and external partner agencies
- Assisting Team leader to monitor, coordinate and report on the progress of existing and new projects.

Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen;
- Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance or the ability to obtain one;
- Relevant qualifications or experience and knowledge in an area or expertise;
- Experience using cryptocurrencies and non-custodial wallets;
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in supporting investigations/intelligence gathering (in public or private sector) and/or experience in the cryptocurrency industry; and
- Understanding of the cryptocurrency industry and the relevant stakeholders.

Desirable Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Data Science or Accounting and Finance
Law enforcement investigative experience
Relevant qualifications or extensive experience and knowledge in project management.
Experience in using Python or SQL for data analysis

This role is an AFP Band 5
This role is either based in ACT, or can be located in one of our other national locations
