**Paralegal | Alliance Family Law | 2 roles x Part Time**

To assist our team, we are now looking for paralegals who can support the growth we are experiencing and are interested in growing their own experience and skills as they progress their career.

**The Role**

In this role you will support a small team of family law specialists in our office at Deakin. The primary responsibility of our paralegals is to assist in the delivery of high-quality legal support services including:

- administrative tasks such as drafting documents and preparing costs agreements;
- typing as required (most lawyers do most of their own typing but from time to time accurate typing or reviewing/editing transcription is required);
- liaising with clients, Barristers, Solicitors, Court Staff and other stakeholders for specified tasks as requested including sending briefs, confirming dates, making appointments;
- maintain diaries with court dates etc;
- Photocopying and receipt, transmission and recording of communications;
- Filing and electronic file management;
- You must be organized and be able to work to deadlines. You must also know how to relate to people from a range of backgrounds and in a variety of situations, be highly trustworthy, and use good judgment.

**Position Requirements**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A good school and academic record up to year 12;
- Some post year 12 training or qualifications, preferably currently studying law;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including a good phone manner;
- Proven computer systems skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook and typing skills;
- The ability to work under pressure, and to meet deadlines;
- The ability to work as part of a team whilst also able to work independently with mínimal supervision as a self-starter;
- Above all you must be able to respect confidential material and exercise the highest levels of discretion.

**Key duties**
- Assisting a small team of lawyers to operate efficiently and effectively.
- Preparing correspondence, drafting legal documents, preparing court files and briefs.
- Creating and maintaining client files electronically on “ActionStep” practice management software and the ‘Family Property’ app (we are a paperless office environment);
- Office administration (including filing, document copying, scanning and shredding);
- Taking new client inquiries if required and organising first conferences
- Document delivery and office supply purchases.
- Telephone answering and message actioning.
- Other general duties as required.

**Hours**

The position can be either a **full or part-time** role. If part time, a minimum of 3 full days or equivalent is desireable.
