**About the opportunity**
NSW Health Pathology is currently seeking skilled Medical Laboratory Technicians to join the Anatomical Pathology Department at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle. Operating in a busy and dynamic environment, the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory at John Hunter Hospital conducts tests for surgical patients across Newcastle and the Hunter Valley region.

Nestled on the beautiful, sun-drenched eastern coastline of New South Wales, just over two hours north of Sydney, Newcastle is a vibrant city bursting with things to do. **What you'll be doing**
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services within a discipline relevant to the department, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Systems
- Demonstrated experience with histology techniques included embedding, microtomy and staining
- Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations
- Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and patients as well as clinical laboratory staff
- Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities
