The Workplace Relations unit are looking for a Workplace Relations Manager to act as a strategic support partner, ensuring that operational leaders receive high quality and compliant advice and support on a range of industrial relations and employee relations issues.

You will partner with operation leaders and members of the People Delivery team to resolve complex and highly sensitive employee and industrial issues collaborative team player that enjoys a ‘customer first’ approach to assist in the delivery of all initiatives ensuring we maintain an environment that values feedback and innovation to encourage team members to continually improve business outcomes.

Key Areas of Responsibility
- The Workplace Relations Manager reports to the Head of Workplace Relations and is responsible for: Partnering with the operational People Delivery Teams, and operational managers to support the timely identification and management of workplace relations issues
- Contributing to discussions within the Workplace Relations Team aimed at ensuring the business can deliver high quality and responsive services including upskilling People Delivery Team and operational leaders’
- Management of highly complex cases, dispute resolution and negotiations with union stakeholders. Development of policies, procedures, standards and other relevant documents to support best practice management of workplace relations issues.
- Support and coach People Delivery Team and operational leaders on workplace relations matters including providing workplace relations advice and support on a range of operational matters.
- Representing Metro at the Fair Work Commission and other tribunals as required.
- Working collaboratively with members of the People Delivery Team and operational managers to build and embed greater capability in relation to employee relations best practice, risk management and compliance. Building and sustaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster collaboration, develop integrated solutions and deliver on operational requirements
- Delivery of timely and relevant advice that supports the delivery of MTM services to the community.

About You
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences, Human Resources, Business or another relevant discipline/or equivalent experience in a similar role in successfully managing workplace relations issues in unionised environment.
- Requirement to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week.
- Experience in case management and management of litigation and cases in the Fair Work Commission and similar tribunals
- Demonstrated experience representing organisations at the Fair Work commission and other related government forums.
- Ability to define and communicate to the business the value in effective Workplace Relations practices and leveraging this value to achieve enterprise change and improved outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder management experience to work collaboratively and build strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders in a complex and politically and industrially sensitive environment.
- Solid report writing, analytical ability and critical thinking with the ability to work autonomously.
