**HCEA Strategy Unit**
The Carer Placement and Permanency Assessment Team is a newly created team within the HCEA Strategy Unit.
The HCEA Strategy Unit is made up of multiple teams who work together to achieve a reduction of the number of children and young people in HCEAs, scrutinise and reduce the costs associated with these arrangements and reduce the number of vacancies across the funded service system.
In addition, the project teams are working to increase placement supply and implement strategies to achieve stability within current out of home care (OOHC) placements.
**Your role**
As Manager Casework of the Carer and Permanency Assessment Team, you will lead a team of Caseworkers to undertake high-quality and culturally appropriate carer and permanency assessments.
Two Manager Casework positions will be established to oversee two teams of Caseworkers. Casework positions will be located across the state to support state-wide service provision for children and young people, carers and families.
The role of the teams will be to undertake carer and permanency assessments for districts across the state. The team will provide high quality assessments about the quality of relationships a child is developing with their care giver, family and culture to support decisions about children's safety wellbeing and permanency.
This will include assessments for carer authorisations, re-authorisations, adoption and guardianship.
A further small team will also be involved in the assessment, authorisation and support of carer applicants in the general pool of carers.
**What you’ll do**
The role presents an opportunity for a Manager Casework to support the establishment of a new team and play a key role in leading the team to achieve its outcomes in supporting the placement safety, wellbeing and permanency for children and young people in OOHC.
You will provide visionary leadership to the team, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Motivate and inspire team members to achieve high performance and uphold the company’s values and objectives.
You will lead a centralised team that will drive excellence and consistency in processes, recommendations, outcomes, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
As part of the role, you may need to undertake and review probity checks and conduct other work from time to time that is associated with children, their carers and carer support.
**What we’re looking for**
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing teams
- Demonstrated experience in clear insightful evidence based work, court reports
- Experience in achieving stability and permanency (relational, cultural and physical)
- Ability to build constructive relationships with parents, family and carers
- Experience in conducting and overseeing complex assessments, including carer and permanency assessments
- A strong knowledge and understanding of the child protection and OOHC system
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills supporting communication with a broad range of stakeholders
- A passion to create and maintain excellent service delivery to children, young people, parents and carers
