The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising maintenance activities to ensure the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of plant equipment and facilities. Through the effective management of people, resources, and maintenance systems, the role ensures that equipment availability, reliability, and longevity are optimized within budget and in compliance with health, safety, environmental, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance Planning & Scheduling
- Develop, manage, and optimize preventive maintenance plans for all equipment using the site's CMMS.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and procurement to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption to operations.
- Prepare and issue detailed job cards for planned maintenance tasks.
- Monitor and adjust maintenance schedules based on equipment condition and operational demands.
- Coordination of Maintenance Activities
- Facilitate execution of maintenance work by coordinating technicians, contractors, and required materials/tools.
- Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and within specified timeframes.
- Maintain a centralized view of all ongoing and upcoming maintenance activities.
- Equipment Performance & Reliability
- Monitor and track asset performance metrics (e.g., MTTR, MTBF, availability).
- Assist in conducting root cause analysis for equipment failures and develop action plans for improvement.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in maintenance practices.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations and internal standards.
- Enforce use of safe work procedures, PPE, and permit-to-work systems.
- Conduct risk assessments for planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
- Participate in HSE inspections, audits, and investigations.
- Team Collaboration & Communication
- Liaise with engineering team, and production departments to align goals and priorities.
- Communicate maintenance schedules and progress to stakeholders and team members.
- Support artisans in executing complex maintenance tasks or troubleshooting.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and interventions.
- Generate and submit regular reports on maintenance performance, backlog, costs, and improvements.
- Support audits and compliance checks with up-to-date documentation.
- Education: Diploma in Maintenance Planning, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or similar field).
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in a maintenance coordination, planning, or supervisory role in an industrial, manufacturing, or processing environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems)
- Proficient in maintenance planning, job scoping, and resource allocation
- Familiar with predictive and preventive maintenance methodologies
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and OEM manuals
- Soft Skills:
- High-level organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
