Role overview

What is the role?

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and dynamic leader to join the AFP in a role responsible for the delivery of dedicated and specialist end-to-end procurement services.

Responsibilities

Band 7

• Lead a high performing team to achieve the AFP's strategic corporate direction.
• Exhibit sound judgement and a willingness to innovate and experiment with different approaches.
• Build a customer-centric culture that adapts to solve complex issues.
• Be forward thinking and self-motivated in driving corporate excellence, along with a strong record of building corporate capability and leading people.

Band 8

• Senior Team Leader responsibilities include developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours to maintain a respectful, inclusive culture.
• Manage a multi-disciplinary team delivering a centralized procurement and contract management service through a business partner model.
• Provide leadership and strategic direction to achieve organisational outcomes within CFO Command priorities, regulatory frameworks, and the AFP Code of Conduct.
• Manage resources, set work priorities, develop strategies and evaluate outcomes.
• Identify and drive performance improvement by measuring organisational performance.
• Develop team members and provide support and advice; provide HR and management support to team members and supervisors.
• Build and sustain relationships with stakeholders internally and externally to the AFP.
• Provide sound advice to the business (including Senior Executive) on improving business practices.
• Ensure action is taken to anticipate, communicate, investigate and resolve problems in systems and services.
• Represent Central Procurement Services at inter- and intra-agency meetings as required.

Qualifications and selection

• You must be an Australian Citizen.
• A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
• Demonstrated expertise and contemporary knowledge relevant to the role.
• Relevant qualifications or extensive experience in the area of expertise.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering applicable corporate services.
• Knowledge of government and industry strategic initiatives.

Additional Information

• This is an AFP Band Level 7-8 position.
• The roles are ideally based in Canberra, however consideration to work in one of the AFP's National Office locations may be negotiated.
• We support flexible work arrangements, but it is expected that the successful applicants will work from the office at least 2-3 days per week for team connectivity and collaboration.
