Yunex Traffic is seeking experienced Traffic Signal Electrician(s) to join its growing Melbourne-based team. The ideal candidate will hold a Victorian Electrical Licence and have recent experience in the Victorian Traffic Signal and ITS industries.

The role primarily involves installation, maintenance, and inspection of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) assets and Traffic Signals (TS), ancillary equipment, and other highway electrical systems.

You will be responsible for performing works on TS and ITS assets in line with Yunex, legislative, and customer contractual requirements. Maintenance works can be planned or reactive, and you should be adaptable to a changing environment.

Areas of responsibility and tasks
  1. Installation, fault finding, inspections, routine, and corrective maintenance of assets such as Traffic Signals (TS), Variable Message Signs (VMS), and Hazard warning signs (AWS, VSLS).
  2. Electrical testing of TS and ITS assets.
  3. Preparation of equipment prior to final installation, e.g., Traffic Signal Controllers or vehicle detection systems.
  4. Commissioning of TS and ITS assets.
  5. Participate in standby roster for emergency repairs and out-of-hours work.
  6. Installation or modification of new and existing TS and ITS assets.
  7. Complete mandatory technical or safety training.
  8. Engage in ongoing training for new equipment and systems.
  9. Coordinate with customers and on-site contractors.
  10. Ensure work completion according to specifications, on time, and to high quality standards.
  11. Adhere to the Company Health and Safety Policy and identify potential hazards.
  12. Perform other duties as reasonably requested within your skills.

  • Full Australian (or equivalent) Driving License.
Minimum Experience & Qualifications
  • Vic Roads, Section 730 – Traffic Signal Installation qualification.
  • Experience in traffic signal installation works.
  • Minimum four years relevant field experience in the last six years.
  • Knowledge of industry TS and ITS products.
  • Traffic Signal Controller certification.
  • SCATS knowledge.
  • Full Driving License.
  • AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules.
  • VIC Electrical Licence.
  • White card.
