Transport Design Professional

Our team is seeking a skilled Transport Designer to join our Melbourne-based transport planning and advisory group. As part of this role, you will collaborate with a dedicated team on various projects, providing accurate and efficient transport design services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting site inspections to gather information on road environments, traffic, and road safety observations.

  • Preparing transport design plans, including concept layouts, swept path assessments, line marking, signage, and traffic signal designs.

  • Designing a range of projects, such as car park facilities, site access, internal road networks, intersection designs, loading dock facilities, active travel initiatives, public transport infrastructure, local area traffic management, and construction traffic management.

  • Familiarity with relevant design standards for horizontal alignments.

  • Developing fee proposals, design reports, and other related documentation.

  • Liaising with clients, project teams, and authorities to progress design projects.

  • Collaborating with the Transport Design team and other internal engineering disciplines.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.

  • 2-5 years' experience in traffic and transport design or engineering capacity, with familiarity with CAD software such as Microstation.

  • Experience working in a consulting environment or similar role within local or state government.

  • Good working knowledge of best practice standards, current trends, and legislation to deliver innovative traffic and transport design solutions.

  • Excellent communication skills to present complex traffic and transport issues and design outcomes effectively.
