Bidfood Newcastle is looking for a confident and commercially-driven Sales Manager to take charge of our sales operations. This is a pivotal role where your leadership will directly impact business performance, team culture and customer satisfaction.
This is more than just a job; it's a chance to lead, influence and shape the future of sales at one of Australia's most respected foodservice providers.
You'll be managing a team of Sales Representatives, working closely with key customers and national suppliers, introducing new products, leading events and staying on top of foodservice trends. You'll also be trusted with managing budgets, pricing strategies and building strong cross-functional relationships across procurement and operations.
If you're looking to step up into a role with real responsibility, meaningful challenges and the opportunity to make a lasting mark, this is it.
About the roleYou'll be responsible for managing and growing sales, building strong customer and supplier relationships, and ensuring the team consistently delivers on KPIs and performance targets. With a focus on margin improvement, cost control and cultural leadership, you'll drive both commercial results and a positive, high-performing environment.
This is a hands-on, branch-level leadership role that works across departments – from procurement and operations, to sales and national support services – to ensure seamless delivery of service and consistent growth.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and implementing strategies to achieve sales KPIs and branch budgets
- Managing, mentoring and developing a team of Sales Representatives
- Monitoring team performance, providing coaching and support where needed
- Developing pricing and margin strategies to drive growth and profitability
- Maintaining and growing key customer relationships
- Leading engagement with key suppliers and overseeing product introduction
- Staying ahead of market and food trends to ensure a competitive edge
- Managing supply into the branch in collaboration with procurement
- Organising and executing sales and supplier events
- Ensuring alignment across sales, operations and customer service teams
You're a confident leader with a passion for food and a talent for building relationships. You thrive on challenge, enjoy fast-paced environments and are skilled at balancing performance metrics with team motivation. You lead by example, meet challenges head-on and inspire those around you to do the same.
You're also commercially savvy – able to analyse numbers, manage budgets and make smart decisions that impact the bottom line.
Skills and experienceTo be successful in this role, you'll bring a strong mix of leadership, commercial insight and industry knowledge, along with the ability to drive results and build a thriving team culture.
- Proven experience as a Sales Manager or Senior Sales Representative in food distribution or FMCG
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a team
- Strong commercial acumen – confident with margins, pricing, budgets and reporting
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficient organisational and managerial capabilities
- High level of computer literacy – quick to learn internal systems
- Experience working with key customers and large-scale suppliers
- Ability to lead cultural initiatives and foster a collaborative, high-performing team
- Professional personal presentation and high standards of integrity
- Applicants may be subject to a pre-employment medical
