About the Position

We are looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Wayside & On-Board Service Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The position is a part-time casual role based in Perth, Australia.

Responsibilities
  • Join the capable System Support team and complete tasks assigned by the Team Lead.
  • Assist other engineers with projects, provide Obsolescence Reports and support, and assist in client reporting.
  • Attend site as required and follow instructions while also taking initiative and contributing ideas.
  • Be available to work on an ad-hoc basis with flexible hours and varied tasks.
  • Support the help desk activities for remote and centralized maintenance activities.
  • Proactively monitor signalling system component lifecycles and supply chain data to identify potential obsolescence issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and supply chain teams for obsolescence management.
  • Investigate and resolve complex obsolescence issues with minimal disruption to production and operations.
  • Seek and implement innovative solutions to extend product lifespans and minimize obsolescence impact.
  • Maintain obsolescence tracking tools and generate regular reports.
  • Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to anticipate lifecycle changes.
  • Assist the team leader with internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Participate in team meetings, workshops, and training initiatives.
  • Ensure all activities comply with applicable HSE laws and policies, including reporting safety incidents per Company procedures.
Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Railway Signalling System.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Software System, or relevant engineering discipline.
  • Product expertise in critical signalling wayside, onboard, and train control systems/equipment.
  • Familiarity with BOM management tools and obsolescence databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication with effective stakeholder management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent time management and professionalism.
