We are seeking a Chef Team Leader to join our kitchen team at Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre.

Located in one of the world's most beautiful settings, the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre offers visitors a chance to experience the stunning natural beauty of the Daintree and the rich culture of the Kuku Yalanji people.

We are looking for an experienced chef to work full-time at the Mayi Café. The ideal candidate will be reliable, trustworthy, and confident working in a busy commercial kitchen, supporting the Operations Manager and leading by example.

Key Duties
  1. Prepare, cook, and serve food to a high standard daily.
  2. Assist the Operations Manager with kitchen coordination, including stock control, rotation, ordering, and stocktaking.
  3. Maintain compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards at all times.
  4. Update recipes and menus, incorporating Indigenous ingredients where possible.
  5. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, setting a professional example in conduct and presentation.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or completed Cooking Apprenticeship
  • At least 3 years' experience in a supervisory role within a café or restaurant
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Good communication skills in English and ability to work under pressure
