Welcome to Ability Action Australia

We are one of the largest providers to the NDIS, supporting over 10,000 participants every year with the care they need, when and where it is needed. We have a multi-disciplinary team approach, building a quality support service around the needs and goals of our participants and their families.

Help us help others with life-changing support that can improve their independence, access, development, health, wellbeing, and function.

We are expanding our Behaviour Support team and would love to welcome experienced and dynamic Behaviour Support Practitioners eager to be part of a multidisciplinary team and make a difference. You'll bring expertise, maturity, and strong time management and organisational skills to the role.

Successful candidates will provide supports to cover NDIS participants living in the following areas (depending on where you live): Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Laurieton, Harrington, Crescent Head, Southwest Rocks, Wauchope, and surrounding areas.

We love working in our local community and making a difference in the lives of our participants. No two days are ever the same You might find us in daycare centres, schools, homes, or on day trips to Kempsey or Camden Haven. We even host monthly Wellness Walks along the Port Macquarie break wall — we love supporting our stunning regional area

You will support vulnerable members of the community by acting as an advocate and role model. On a daily basis, you will be:

  • Assisting NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, to identify their needs through assessment and person-centred planning
  • Evaluating, developing, and delivering evidence-based support plans within a complex support space
  • Developing meaningful goals and practical strategies utilizing a positive behaviour support framework, with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community
  • Ensuring individual plans reflect our NDIS participants' goals, passions, and strengths
  • Building the knowledge, capacity, and strengths of those who support participants in their lives — family, carers, friends, etc.
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including mentoring less experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners

As you support many, we support you We offer:

  • Work flexibility — From 24 hours a week to full-time, you select the hours and days that work best for you as an individual.
  • Excellent remuneration — Industry-leading salary, salary packaging, car allowance, laptop, smartphone, purchased leave, and bonus opportunities.
  • True work-life balance — The autonomy of setting your calendar, your way. Combine the convenience of working from home with time at our supportive hubs.
  • Career progression — Access to ongoing training tailored to your interests and long-term goals, along with professional development opportunities through Ability Action Australia and our parent company, MedHealth.
  • Continuous Professional Development — A generous CPD allowance and paid leave days for completing this.
  • Passionate and positive culture — Be part of a purpose-driven team that believes in your development and in making a difference.

To be considered suitable, you will have:

  • Current suitability confirmed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission — at the Core or Proficient level as a Behaviour Support Practitioner
  • Experience in mentoring and supervising other Behaviour Support Practitioners
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload
  • Proactive attitude, motivated by improvement and the opportunity to test and learn from new ideas
