Overview

Full time, permanent role. Location: Fawkner/Hybrid. One PTO (Personal Time Off) per month.

The Strategic Product Development Manager plays a critical role in taking ownership of, shaping, and sharing the strategic vision of the entire product portfolio at GMCT. The Strategic Product Development Manager's primary accountability is the development, management, and execution of the GMCT Product Strategy to drive customer-focused outcomes. The Strategic Product Development Manager is the "product champion", leading all elements of product including, pricing, innovation, performance, stock management, lifecycles, and the product roadmap. The Strategic Product Development Manager acts as the "client" for the design and construction of stock products and for the development and delivery of associated services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Product Management
  • Development and ownership of the strategic vision for the GMCT product portfolio and related roadmap for the future GMCT product offering, considering customer need and strategic objectives.
  • Develop, manage and execute initiatives aligned to the achievement of the vision of the GMCT product portfolio.
  • Manage and monitor the product lifecycles, focusing on product rationalisation, performance, pricing, margin, and stock control.
    • Stakeholder & Change Management
    • Provide key inputs for leadership reports and working sessions, including papers for the Board, Executive Team, and other product development forums.
    • Key stakeholder management and partnering with internal stakeholders to develop a collaborative approach across GMCT to embed continuous and ongoing product management strategies.
    • Ability to navigate change across the enterprise and act as an agent of change to keep the organisation on task to deliver.
      • Thought leadership, Insights & Reporting
      • Act as the GMCT "product owner" and thought leader, bringing the organisation on the journey of product development and innovation, empowering individuals and the organisation to support proactive product planning and positive change.
      • Develop a high-level data framework to provide ongoing product and stock reporting to direct line manager and the CCO.
      • Consolidate various data sources to build valuable product insights and facilitate data-driven decision making, with a focus on forecasting, performance, and alignment to organisational strategies.
        • Risk Management and Compliance
        • Working closely with the Governance and Finance team, ensure all product development strategies and executions adhere to the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003 and any other relevant organisational policies.
        • Understand, review and monitor strategic risks related to product development and report any instances outside of tolerance.
        • Develop required policies and procedures to ensure strong governance in relation to the management and strategic development of GMCT's portfolio of products.
        To be successful in this position you will require
        • A relevant tertiary qualification in a related discipline or a minimum of 5 years prior experience in a similar role.
        • 5+ years' experience in product management with proven ability in delivering and managing successful product suites in a complex environment.
        • Prior experience as a Product Manager / Principal / Lead in a complex environment and demonstrated achievements at both a strategic and operational level.
        • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a natural collaborative approach with the ability to influence at all levels.
        • Experience reporting to an Executive level role, developing Board quality reports and reporting to a Board.
