At Amart, we've been helping Australians create homes they love for over 50 years. Now, we're looking for a New Product Development Manager to take our product innovation to the next level.
This is a commercially driven, trend-inspired role that's not design-led, but focused on timing, market fit & product replacement strategy. By blending global insights with local knowledge, you'll ensure Amart continues to stand out in a highly competitive market.
If you're passionate about innovation, thrive on spotting the next big trend & want to shape the future of one of Australia's most loved furniture brands, this is your opportunity to make your mark.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Market & Competitor Insights
- Maintain a comprehensive product matrix tracking competitor activity by category.
- Continuously monitor competitor EDMs, websites, catalogues & promotional activity to identify new product launches & shifts in consumer trends.
- Translate international design & product trends into commercially viable products tailored to the Australian market.
Global Trend Sourcing & Travel
- Attend major international trade shows to identify new opportunities & maintain supplier relationships.
- Conduct annual research trips to the UK & US to capture global inspiration & benchmark against leading retailers.
Product Development & Strategic Direction
- Identify new product opportunities & align them to existing or emerging market demand.
- Present product proposals & recommendations to key internal stakeholders for review & feedback.
- Track product lifecycle performance & collaborate on exit plans for underperforming SKUs.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with the existing Amart team to ensure sourcing, quality & supply chain alignment for new products.
- Support the General Manager – Product in executing the product vision & maintaining Amart's market leadership.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Strong commercial acumen with ability to balance trend inspiration & business realities.
- Proven experience in product development or product management in retail (furniture industry preferred).
- Highly analytical, able to interpret competitor insights & market data to inform decisions.
- Excellent collaboration & stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Strong presentation skills with ability to prepare compelling new product cases for internal decision making forums.
- Resilient, adaptable & comfortable with fast-paced, trend-driven environments.
- Demonstrated success in retail product development, ideally within furniture, homewares, or consumer goods.
- Experience engaging with global suppliers & attending international trade shows.
- Familiarity with competitor analysis & product lifecycle management.
We offer:
Training & development – We believe that in life you never stop learning. The same applies when you work here – from your first day & throughout your career.
Reward & Recognition – We acknowledge & reward the hard work of our people.
Real Career Opportunities – We offer genuine career opportunities in roles across Australia.
