Workplace Location

Our facility is located in Shoal Bay Port Stephens, one of NSW favourite holiday destinations. PSVCAC is perfectly positioned to enjoy the Peninsula and the surrounding areas

We are seeking an Activities Officer to enrich the lives of our aged care residents through recreational activities promoting psychological, social and emotional wellbeing.

The Role:

The Activities Officer is responsible for motivating consumers towards emotional and physical rehabilitation through leisure and recreationalactivities that promote psychological, social and physical wellbeing. They are also responsible for delivering activities that encourages cognitive function, promotes, and recognises the resident's culture, and aids in facilitating the resident's spiritual needs. This role will work collaboratively with the Personal Care Team in providing consumers with quality care, while actively trying to maintain the skilllevel, independence and mobility of individual consumers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing a person-centred approach recognising leisure and recreational experiences are the right of all Individuals.
  • Facilitates person centred leisure and recreation programs that are tailored to the needs of consumers with a view to improving quality of life.
  • Ensuring activities that are designed to support, challenge and enhance the psychological, spiritual, social, emotional, cultural, spiritual and physical wellbeing of individuals are followed and delivered.
  • Providing opportunities where individuals may choose to participate in leisure and recreation activities which promote self-esteem and personal fulfilment.
  • Facilitating individual client choice, decision making and participation when developing and managing recreational programs.
  • Performing all implemented activities as per monthly programs and modifying activities as required to enable participation of consumers
  • Ensuring standards of care, including suitable programs and continuous improvement
  • Ensuring a professional approach to all work and personal presentation.
  • Providing day to day support and assistance to the activities team
  • Having a proactive approach to all work to perform routine tasks without daily direction.
  • Meeting with the supervisor on a regular basis to clarify direction of workflow.
  • Liaise with family members and assess the needs, preferences and capabilities of each consumer to compile appropriate individual activity assessments and care plans.

Qualifications and Training:

  • Cert III in Aged Care or Cert IV in Community Services (Leisure & Health) (Desireable)
  • A Current Police Check
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence
