Overview

Senior Workplace Relations Advisor (12 Month FTC) at EnergyAustralia. This role sits in the Workplace Relations, People Risk & Compliance team and provides expert guidance on complex employee relations matters, supports industrial relations strategy, and collaborates with stakeholder groups to drive a fair, compliant, and high-performing workplace.

Responsibilities
  • Support and partner with leaders enterprise-wide in case-management of complex employee matters involving performance management, misconduct, health & wellbeing, grievances/disputes, etc.
  • Build leader capability and develop resource materials by providing coaching and expertise.
  • Provide support to the P&C team on Employee Relations matters and collaborate with the People Support Hub and P&C Business Partners.
  • Support enterprise-wide core IR activities such as enterprise agreement interpretation and application, employee/union consultation, enterprise agreement dispute management, and related advice; engage with contractors regarding workplace relations activities.
  • Represent EnergyAustralia in matters with the Fair Work Commission (e.g., unfair dismissal, general protections, anti-discrimination).
  • Work with the People Support Hub and P&C Business Partners to implement proactive measures addressing trends or systemic issues.
  • Stay up to date with developments and changes in workplace relations; help keep the P&C team and business leaders informed.
Qualifications / Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in law (preferred), HR or related field.
  • 5+ years ER/IR experience (particularly in a highly unionised environment) or 3+ years PQE in employment/workplace relations law, including experience in managing matters in the Fair Work Commission.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to balance operational and project-based work.
  • Ability to proactively identify and implement opportunities for workplace relations improvements across the organisation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to research complex issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build credible relationships with stakeholders in both corporate and operational contexts.
  • Ability to engage constructively with diverse internal and external stakeholders including employee representatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to guide, coach and influence leaders, escalating for support where appropriate.
  • Experience and interest in working on a range of workplace relations projects to build a strong risk and compliance culture in People & Culture.
