Overview

We are seeking a Head of Technical to lead initiatives in ensuring that all products meet the Company's standards, as well as all applicable regulatory and customer requirements for food safety, quality, and compliance.

What you will be doing
  • Provide leadership and coaching to ensure customer and industry standard food safety and quality systems are implemented and compliant within each Category.
  • Monitor, support and hold accountable supplier compliance to all local, regional, and federal food safety regulatory requirements.
  • Provide key customer support in relation to all Category food safety and quality issues.
  • Maintain and enforce the Company's Approved Supplier Program for the Category.
  • Provide technical support to strategically aligned growers to ensure food safety and quality of fresh produce is maintained.
  • Actively investigate quality and food safety issues to develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Assist the Category and growers with new varietal development and growing techniques.
  • Remain informed of all regulatory and customer requirement changes that impact the Category.
  • Build productive relationships within the grower network, with particular focus on key strategic partner growers.
  • Provide product quality specialist advice relating to the Category.
  • Co-ordinate the creation and implementation of Quality Improvement Plans as required.
  • Actively participate in a leadership capacity across the broader Technical Quality team.
  • Advise in relation to compliance with specifications and escalate issues as required.
  • Routinely liaise with customer quality teams to ensure all specifications are up to date and allow the maximum amount of product to be compliant without being detrimental to consumer experience.
  • Support new initiatives such as New Product Development and technical development of emerging technologies to enhance product performance.
  • Drive a continuous improvement mindset to key focus areas such as reduction in rejections etc.
What we are looking for
  • Degree/Diploma in Agronomy/Agriculture/Food Science or a related area/equivalent experience
  • Solid experience in a Quality Assurance Manager or Agronomist position within the fresh produce sector.
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively to drive beneficial outcomes without compromising consumer experiences.
  • Experience in implementing Quality Assurance programs consistent with applicable industry standards.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management.
  • Strong planning and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • High level of attention to detail and documentation management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite other software applications.
