Position Overview

The Senior Underwriter is responsible for underwriting and clearing conditions for Agency and/or Non-Agency loans. The Senior Underwriter communicates all mortgage loan guidelines to Loan Processors and Loan Officers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain a pipeline within the company's standards: 24-hour turn-around time for final underwrite and 48-hour turn-around time for upfront.
  • Analyze and access risk for initial credit decision based on company checklists, internal guides, Agency guides and Investor guides.
  • Communicate errors and missing information to processor via email and/or telephone.
  • Adjust condition sheet in Encompass with applicable conditions.
  • Review resubmission as items are gathered and submitted by the processor.
  • Issue final approval uploading all necessary approval documentation into Encompass with appropriate signatures.
  • Collaborate with internal departments on any stipulations for closed files.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Qualifications And Skills
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • SAR and/or DE, preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriter experience, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of mortgage banking software, mortgage underwriting, loans, purchase, and refinance transactions.
  • Experience Underwriting USDA and Bond programs, a plus.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.

Pay Range
  • Hourly Rate: 43.26 - 48.07
  • Bonus Eligible if applicable

The posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position .
