About us
Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their health and wellbeing through clinical and community programs.
Our main services are in Wellington, Dubbo, Western Sydney, Penrith, Nepean, and Blue Mountains, with outreach services to other communities.
About the Role:
The Child Health Nurse provides direct patient contact and clinical support in Maternal and Child Health, including immunisations, development and maternal screening, and parenting advice.
This role supports health promotion and quality improvement initiatives to enhance Indigenous health in our communities.
The Nurse reports to the Team Leader of the Healthy for Life Program.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Registered nurse, EEN, or AHP with immunization qualification or willingness to obtain
- Certified midwife or willing to obtain Midwifery certification
- Passion for Child and Family Health
- Accredited Child and Family Health Certificate
- Immunization accreditation or willingness to obtain
- Effective communication skills
- Commitment to Primary health care principles
- Understanding of issues impacting Aboriginal communities
- Working with Children and Criminal Record checks, NSW Drivers Licence
- Certificate of Aboriginality
- Minimum 12 months experience in Child and Family health
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
