Overview

Position: Staff Specialist / Senior Staff Specialist in Palliative Care at Canberra Health Services. Location: Clare Holland House, ACT. Employment Type: Permanent Full Time. Section: Allied Health & Palliative Care. Closing Date: 15 September 2025.

This role offers high-quality, patient-centred medical care across a range of settings including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, community and home-based services, and hospital consultancy. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver compassionate end-of-life care, support patients, families and carers, and contribute to education, training and clinical leadership within the service. The role includes participation in the on-call roster to ensure continuity of care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality medical care across the inpatient unit, outpatient clinics, community and home-based services and hospital consultancy.
  • Deliver compassionate end-of-life care and support to patients, families and carers.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to education, training and clinical leadership within the service.
  • Participate in the on-call roster to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Applicants who have completed the fellowship exam and are in the last 3 months or pending successful completion by July 2025 are invited to apply.
  • Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
  • Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
  • Comply with Credentialing and scope of clinical practice requirements for medical professionals.
What We Offer
  • Total Salary Range: $265,607 to $358,114 (pro rata for part-time positions) excluding Attraction and Retention Incentive.
  • Base Salary: $188,151 to $254,198 (pro rata for part-time); starting salary negotiated based on experience.
  • Additional Allowances: Private Practice Scheme Allowance and an on-call allowance (17.4% of base salary plus Private Practice Allowance).
  • Superannuation: 12% of base salary.
  • Location: Clare Holland House, ACT.
  • Visa/Sponsorship available for eligible candidates.
  • Relocation reimbursement for interstate candidates on permanent and long-term appointments (conditions apply).
  • Generous leave provisions, including training/education leave and annual leave (pro rata for part-time).
  • Salary packaging options with fringe benefits tax concessions.
