About The RoleThe Department is looking for an EL1 HR Specialist - Remuneration Benefits Analyst with advanced technical and analytical expertise in HR, accounting, and Excel (including PowerQuery). This high-impact role will lead global remuneration reviews, drive data analysis, and provide strategic advice while engaging with senior stakeholders.
Level/Classification: EL1
Contract Type: Labour Hire
Contract Duration: 12 Months + Possibility of 2x 12 Months extension
Location: Canberra, ACT
Requirements:
- Must HAVE an NV1 Clearance
- Selection Criteria Response
- Ability and willingness to undergo a police check
Remuneration Review & Analysis
- Conduct annual salary and benefits reviews across 100+ overseas missions
- Apply actuarial and market data to recommend salary adjustments
- Ensure strategic alignment and defensibility of remuneration decisions
- Address challenges in volatile environments (e.g. hyperinflation, instability)
- Maintain and improve a complex Excel-based remuneration model
- Perform annual rollovers, update PowerQuery links, validate formulas
- Implement usability and performance enhancements
- Ensure scalability and centralized data processing
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all data inputs
- Document assumptions and methodologies for audit and approval
- Maintain data-sharing arrangements with peer organizations
- Coordinate market data surveys with external suppliers
- Lead procurement of high-quality remuneration data
- Liaise with suppliers and integrate data into analysis models
- Collaborate with senior officers and overseas mission leaders
- Provide strategic advice tailored to local contexts
- Support decision-making in complex geopolitical environments
- Manage annual data survey process across global missions
- Track and validate survey returns for accuracy and timeliness
- Deliver expert advice on remuneration strategy and methodology
- Contribute to case reviews and continuous improvement
- Identify and mitigate risks in data and decision-making
- Represent the organization in external engagements
- Collaborate with professionals to resolve complex assessments
- Proven expertise in HR, accounting, and remuneration analysis
- Advanced Excel skills including PowerQuery and formula validation
- Experience managing large-scale data models and surveys
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities
- Ability to navigate complex political and economic environments
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Familiarity with actuarial data and market intelligence sourcing
- Experience in audit-ready documentation and data governance
