The Senior WHS Specialist will support Amazon's injury prevention and workplace health and safety program. In this position, you will be part of the regional Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Team and will lead health and safety activities across multiple sites. This role reports directly to a Sr. WHS Manager.

The Senior WHS Specialist will partner with Operations Teams across several sites to ensure workplace safety, injury prevention, and compliance with local, regional, and federal regulations. The role involves influencing peers and senior leaders to foster a safety culture.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with ergonomics and WHS teams, analyzing data to identify disparities, developing programs, and guiding site-level safety initiatives. The role also involves leading regional safety efforts, delivering training, and tracking safety projects, with regular reporting to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assess site opportunities and focus on risk reduction efforts.
  2. Coordinate ergonomic assessments with the global ergonomics team.
  3. Analyze injury trends and develop mitigation strategies.
  4. Ensure adherence to WHS project management mechanisms.
  5. Define measurable project objectives and collaborate at scale.
  6. Support wellness programs and improve wellness services.
  7. Produce regular business reports for stakeholders.
  8. Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive workplace matters.
  9. Analyze safety data, conduct hazard assessments, and manage stakeholders.
  10. Lead cross-site projects and implement process improvements.

This position requires travel throughout Australia and is based at a fulfillment center.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in workplace health and safety, ergonomics, kinesiology, or related field.
  • Experience as an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist or similar role.
  • Knowledge of Australian WHS laws, regulations, and codes of practice.
  • Master's degree in relevant field is preferred.
  • Experience in distribution or manufacturing environments with at least 250 employees.
  • Certified Safety Professional designation is preferred.
