PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
Develop, direct and lead the Sydney manufacturing Warehousing and Distribution Operations to achieve production, cost, quality and safety standards; National WHS Management; Rydalmere Facilities Management; and Operations Excellence through mentor, guide and coach the relevant team members towards reaching set objectives
ACCOUNTABILITIES ACCOUNTABILITIES cont.
• Plan and review divisional operating costs, particularly with regard to production, output, quality and quantity, cost, time available, labour requirements, planned production programs and control activities and inventory levels.
• Determine production schedules based on daily sales requirements (order intake), plant capacity and inventory level, and ensures that operations are carried out with maximum efficiency within budgeted costs, meeting agreed objectives as to quality, output and delivery lead times per sales channel.
• Assess the performance of and recommend changes, modification, replacement to methods and procedures, layouts or machines, tools, equipment, and other plant facilities to enhance production capacity, quality and safety.
• Analyse reports and customer feedback identifying efficiency (non-productive time), stock on hand, maintenance downtime, delivery performance and labour costs and develop programs to eliminate the root cause of unfavourable results.
• Develop operational systems to assist control of quality, planning, production costs, raw materials, distribution of product, scrap, stock accuracy and meeting customer expectations.
• Establish quality management objectives, policies and programs within the context of the overall corporate plan and recommend standards and set targets.
• Manage the preparation of budgets and reports.
• Appraise the activities of the division according to overall strategies and objectives and monitor and evaluate performance, the efficiency of staff, procedures and production costs.
• Ensure activities related to the function comply with relevant Acts, legal demands and ethical standards.
• Develop and implement with Maintenance team effective preventative maintenance programs to ensure plant and equipment operates at optimum output and quality.
• Assist with the development of new products in testing and the feasibility of proposed equipment, processes or techniques.
• Manages staff selection, training, development and utilisation. Evaluate and manage the performance and efficiency of staff.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES
KPI's & targets are discussed and agreed with the team set annually and reviewed regularly. These include but are not limited to the following:
• Labour productivity in accordance with standards set
• First Time Right in accordance with standards set
• Labour recovery
WHS RESPONSIBILITIES
• Overall responsibility for the safety and well-being of all employees and contractors by ensuring safe systems of work and environments.
• Overall responsibility to ensure that the division complies with all relevant occupational health and safety laws and regulations.
• Overall responsibility to ensure the division:
o Meets and exceeds annual safety targets;
o Implements annual safety KPI's for managers, team leaders and WHS Representatives;
o Drives the implementation of the company WHS Management System;
o Implements the WHS Training Calendar and ensure that all staff are trained as required;
o Investigates all accidents/incidents and ensure that they are reported within 24 hours;
o Initiate actions to improve WHS and take immediate action to fix any unsafe situation/act or environmental hazard;
o Staff understand and comply with company WHS policies and procedures.
OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
The predominate business in Australia is producing and selling metal and fabric window covering components and finished window covering products.
The Rydalmere, Sydney site has two light to medium manufacturing facilities, one assembly facility and its main warehousing facility. There is a small window coverings assembly plant near the Gold Coast. The business has sales locations in each state.

• Technically minded with good mechanical aptitude. Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent verbal communication with the ability to motivate and drive staff on meeting objectives and continuous improvement
• Ability to negotiate and influence at various levels including staff, suppliers, customers, unions.
DIMENSIONS
The role is primarily responsible for leading the manufacturing and despatch of made–to-stock and made-to-order window covering products to optimise the use of resources, minimising costs whilst meeting quality standards (service and product). It requires a hands-on approach to identify barriers in the manufacturing process, implement programs to eliminate the barriers and educate staff to perform to expected standards.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
• Tertiary qualifications in related disciplines
• A minimum of five (5) years' experience in manufacturing management roles.
• Strong knowledge and practical application of 5S and / or Six Sigma methodologies
