Overview

Join our team as a Strategic Planner in the Urban Futures - Strategic Planning unit of Sutherland Shire Council. This full-time, permanent position involves developing strategic planning frameworks to support a vibrant, sustainable community and making an impact on land use and development controls.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the Planning and Strategy Manager and Senior Manager of Urban Futures on project-based initiatives.
  • Prepare vital land use strategies and policies; contribute insights to navigate urban planning and environmental management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, undertake research, and prepare policy papers to support informed decision-making.
Candidate Profile / Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental planning or related discipline, or nearing completion of relevant postgraduate qualifications.
  • Solid understanding of planning issues and practices; strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in IT with experience using GIS and computer modelling.
About the Role and Benefits

We are looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about urban planning and eager to contribute to the community. You will develop planning expertise, work with mentors, and lead and collaborate on projects.

  • Hours: Permanent Full Time 35 hours per week; option of 19 day month flex time arrangement.
  • Salary: From $88,129 - $111,514 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation; salary based on skills and experience.
