Overview

Balmain provides a range of financial services and builds long-term relationships with business partners to deliver high service levels to clients and lenders. The Balmain Group has a loan portfolio exceeding $5.5B and provides $4B in property investment and development loans each year. Loans range from $1M to over $100M for investment, construction and site acquisition.

PRIMARY ROLE

The Credit Operations Manager is a critical component in assisting the joint Heads of Credit with the monitoring, managing and compliance of Balmain's loan portfolios.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the performance reporting requirements for Balmain's loan portfolios.
  • Undertake and maintain group exposure analysis and reporting, including geographical, borrower group and industry exposures in line with Balmain policy.
  • Quarterly Watchlist and Non-Performing Loan Reporting.
  • Prepare reports for monthly Credit Committee meetings and maintain minutes of meetings.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance activities by auditing portfolio information to ensure accuracy and consistency across the portfolio.
  • Lead process development and policy writing.
  • Communicate new processes and policies to credit staff and assist with training where required.
  • Maintain external consultants (Solicitors, Valuers, Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers) and ensure current information on standing instructions, panel appointments and insurance.
  • Manage a small team overseeing loan covenant and milestone compliance; monitor and report non-compliance statistics.
  • Arrears management and escalation to Heads of Credit as required by policy.
  • Monthly settlement and decisioning reporting in comparison with delegated authorities.
  • Assist the Joint Heads of Credit in planning and completing credit special projects.
Qualifications / Competencies
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the commercial lending environment or experience in a similar operational or reporting role.
  • Good understanding of commercial loan documentation.
  • Highly competent with Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Experience with AI would be beneficial.
