The Balmain Group has a loan portfolio exceeding $5.5B and provides $4B in property investment and development loans each year. Loans range in size between $1M to in excess of $100M for purposes including investment, construction and site acquisition.
PRIMARY ROLE
The Credit Operations Manager is a critical component in assisting the joint Heads of Credit with the monitoring, managing and compliance of Balmain's loan portfolios..
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the performance reporting requirements for Balmain's loan portfolios.[JN1] [RT2]
- Undertake and maintain group exposure analysis and reporting, including geographical, borrower group and industry exposures in line with Balmain policy.
- Quarterly Watchlist and Non-Performing Loan Reporting.
- Preparation of reports for monthly Credit Committee meetings and minutes of meeting.
- Conduct regular quality assurance (QA) activities by auditing the portfolio information held on Balmain's lending systems [RT3] and other source documents to ensure that all loan information is accurate and documented consistently across the portfolio.
- Take a leading role in process development and policy writing.
- Communication of new processes and policies to credit staff and assist with training where required.
- Maintain and periodically review Balmain's external consultants including Solicitors, Valuers, Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, including maintaining current information on standing instructions, panel appointments and insurance.
- Manage a small team dedicated to overseeing loan covenant and milestone compliance. Monitor and report on non-compliance statistics.
- Arrears management and escalation to Heads of Credit as required by policy.
- Monthly settlement and decisioning reporting in comparison with delegated authorities.
- Assist the Joint Heads of Credit in planning and completion of any Credit special projects.
COMPETENCY / JOB SKILL ATTRIBUTES / REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the commercial lending environment or experience in a similar style operational or reporting role.
- Good understanding of commercial loan documentation
- Highly competent with excel.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Experience with AI would be beneficial
