The Company
Securing a mortgage is often one of the most significant financial decisions an individual will make, particularly for those who are self-employed or running a business. Traditional lenders can struggle to recognise the complexities of non-standard income, creating barriers to accessing the right loan. This company specialises in addressing those challenges, offering tailored lending solutions designed specifically for self-employed individuals and business owners, ensuring their unique financial needs are met.
The Role
Reporting into the Managing Director, the Operations Manager will play a central role within the team, ultimately being responsible for and supervising all loans for submissions. Continuously analysing and improving processes, this role is focused on enhancing business processes to drive greater efficiency, productivity, and overall quality.
What you'll do:
- Oversee all loan submissions after they have been prepared by the broking or credit teams
- Lead and manage Credit Analysts and Origination Support staff
- Develop, Implement and review loan processes and procedures
- Run daily meetings to allocate tasks, set priorities, and monitor progress
- Provide guidance on credit queries and process-related questions
- Act as the connecting point to ensure loans progress smoothly to final submission
- Distribute deals for processing through platforms or handle internally when cases require extra attention
- Perform the final compliance and quality review before loans are submitted or handed over
- Coordinate responses to lender conditions in partnership with analysts and brokers
- Track workflow through to settlement, ensuring each file is completed accurately and on time
- Oversee invoicing processes and follow up on outstanding client payments
- Assist with hiring, training, and supporting junior staff, interns, and offshore resources
- Manage and refine broker systems, including onboarding for new staff members
- Implement improvements to systems and adopt new tools where needed
- Contribute to business improvement projects during quieter periods
What we're looking for:
- A minimum of 5 years in a credit analyst role, with a solid understanding of finance broking and self- employed lending practices
- Strong, demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide and support a team
- Proven ability to plan, organise, and deliver projects from start to finish, with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised with strong time management abilities
- Persistent and resilient, able to push through challenges and setbacks
- Dependable and accountable, with a strong sense of integrity
- Positive, proactive approach with a willingness to go beyond expectations
